What to expect:
Wake Up to the Issues. Lancaster employers are encouraged to join us at the first Wake Up to the Issues of 2023 to learn the benefits and opportunities available through a large untapped workforce solution – justice-involved individuals re-entering our community. In 2022, Lancaster County Prison released 3,873 individuals with an average age of 38. These returning citizens are faced with barriers such as employment that provides few benefits, little to no opportunities for upward mobility, and lower wages than they earned before incarceration. At this Wake Up to the Issues, employers can learn about second chance efforts, how their business can get involved, and the work being done to equip those who have served their time with in-demand workforce skills. They will also hear from employers who currently benefit from employing re-entrants.
Speakers:
Jeff Abramowitz, CEO, Petey Greene Program
Dorenda Hamarlund, Workforce Development Specialist, PA Corrections & Parole
Carrie Kurtz, Director, Lancaster County Reentry Coalition
