What is Women in Business?

Women in Business is designed to equip professional women with the knowledge, strategies, and resources needed to navigate challenges and achieve success in the workplace as well as to provide opportunities to connect with businesswomen across Lancaster County.

About the Session:

 In every career field we are expected to pitch ourselves or our business. And we've all heard elevator pitches that are dry and lacking personality. Using the basics of storytelling and theatre, Disrupt Theatre Company Founder & Executive Director Starleisha Michelle Gingrich will give you the tools to develop your short narrative pitch and present it with confidence. Please dress comfortably (leggings and sneakers) and come prepared to participate! 

Meet the speaker:

Starleisha Gingrich, Disrupt Theatre Company

Starleisha Michelle Gingrich (she/her) is a storyteller, a creative, and a Lancaster transplant. She studied theatre at Messiah University and in the summer of 2018, she studied Community-Based Theater with Cornerstone Theater Company in Queens, New York. She is also a Certified Intimacy Captain for the stage through Intimacy Coordinators of Color. 

In Lancaster, Pennsylvania she has had the opportunity to work with several amazing theatre companies and professionals. Still, there was something missing: a theatre for Black, Indigenous, non-Black People of Color, queer and trans folks, that tells stories from those often ignored perspectives. In order to fill that need, she launched Disrupt Theatre Company. 

Disrupt Theatre Company’s mission is to bring plays by BIPOC playwrights to the Lancaster BIPOC community at affordable prices and at accessible locations. In 2021 she received the YWCA Lancaster’s Woman of Achievement Award for her work with Disrupt Theatre Company in the Lancaster community.

Starleisha wears many theatrical hats including being the Fall Play Director at JP McCaskey and the Education and Outreach Coordinator at the Fulton Theatre.
